SAA has never stopped providing free (included i the ticket price really) food in economy. And I have to add their meals are rather good!

Never had much of a chance to fly them over here in this part of world. The do or at least used to do a codeshare with DAL and I used to connect to a flight out of ATL that jumped off at RDU. but it was always DAL equipment on this end, generally a widebody of some type. It stopped at RDU just long enough to let us off and board any new ones. They were generally back in the air before we got out of the airport.

Even on the 70 minutes hop from Victoria Falls to Johannesburg we got a complete meal, including excellent South African wine, served in style by excellent cabin attendants. Reminded me of the level of service back in the 60'.

3 flights last week; a choc-mint biscuit, an everything-free muesli bar and a small finger sandwich with a choice of tea/coffee or orange juice. Snack barely describes the food. Why only beer/wine on departures between 5-7pm?

Not very impressed.
