Wow. I’m at a loss for words. I’m really going to miss US operator’s 747’s. At least other airlines across the globe will still have them for some time yet. There’s nothing like a 747.
And we'll still see them flying here into the States. What I find interesting is, Delta didn't make as big a deal as United. Oh, yeah, they acquired those from Northwest. If I would have been more forward thinking and had a smart phone back in the very early '90's I could have posted pix of two loose load Pan Am 742's because they only had time to take out the seats. After I PCS'ed from MHZ/EGUN to RMS/EDAR in '92 I did see a few 742s in FEDEX livery.
