(Video) Unmanned parked aircraft takes off in high winds
Short but amazing video and a good reminder to use tie-downs. (www.youtube.com) Plus d'info...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Yikes. "Dude, where's my plane?"

Oh my gosh!
I landed many years ago at the Des Moines airport in Iowa in an Aeronca Champ and was forced to RON because of weather to STP. I made an effort to tie the plane down but had never done it before. During the night there was a heavy thunderstorm and I feared for the plane but when I returned to the airport in the morning it was there and intact. Someone had tied it down correctly and saved my butt. Can I thank that man at this date date?
Pay it forward?
This video is from 2011 and there is another versions on the Internet with better resolution. On that one very thin tie downs are visible that break once it gets up in the air. Therefore the strange motion where it almost lifts off vertically without being blown backwards.
