The F-35 Can't Beat The Plane It's Replacing In A Dogfight: Report

Soumis

We’ve heard of significant shortcomings before with the fighter jet that’s supposed to be America’s future, but this is just as bad as it gets. The F-35 performed so dismally in a dogfight, that the test pilot remarked that the it had pretty much no place fighting other aircraft within visual range. Here is another article on that from ARSTechnica. http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2015/06/report-in-test-dogfight-f-35-gets-waxed-by-f-16/

It's really sad when the plane it's meant to replace can kick its arse. Epic fail.

Well if it can't fly fast because of excessive fuel burn and can't dog fight just make it the replacement for the A-10.

Your actually close, the F-35 was always meant to replace the A-10 not the F-16. It's the F-22 that is meant to be the new dogfighting aircraft. There's a reason why the F-35 is called Joint STRIKE Fighter

Actually the fighter mafia is what gave us this useless fighter in the first place.

With all the counter measures how could somebody get jumped? Seems they'd be firing a missile from the distance.

I'm wondering how they can dogfight with no gun anyway. Last I saw, a gun would not be available until about 2020 or so and then would only shoot about 600 rounds.

Hunk of Junk. "We won't dogfight anymore. We don't need a gun". Somebody forgot to tell the North Vietnamese MIG's as they came out after gunless F-4's.
