EVAN HODGDEN
This aircraft has a place in aviation history!!!! This aircraft had the 1st C152 engine failure. I was a CFI at TOA Cessna Dealership. I got a student that was dissatisfied with his CFI. Just a few things in the syllabus to complete. One was simulated engine out emergency procedure and landing. We discussed the procedures before and during a training flight. I pulled the power back over LGB harbor, we did all the procedures and lined up to land on Terminal Island. Added power and made regular, uneventful landing back at TOA. Next week the same student, a really good one, very competent, responsible, successful businessman, needed some solo time. He went to the area did some stuff and during descent at the exact same spot I had initiated the engine failure, it did! He ran the procedures, noted oil gage difficulties, talked to a United Airliner on 121.5 landing at LAX, declared an emergency and stated his landing location, squawked 7700 and proceed to land on Terminal island, which was then a police skid pad training area, near the old Spruce Goose Hangar & Queen Mary, just as practiced. At the time the aircraft had 34 hours! Citations were dispatched ASAP from ICT. An oil connector fitting had been mis-threaded or faulty and lost oil with engine lock up. N757VQ you have a place in aviation history. You've been exported. Wonder where you went?
