Few people realized that this aircraft that was first produced in the 1930's would be one of the most significant transport aircraft ever made.
About 2000 continued to see service today still.

Back in January 1971 my brother and I had a chance to travel to Venezuela just as the country opened up for tourist to visit from USA. One of the things we took advantage of was a trip to see Angles Falls, and we flew from the capital of Caracas in a Douglas DC-3 It was the first time I had ever flown in one, and it was so smooth. The crew invited all of us to the cockpit and after seeing the falls out the aircraft windows we then landed on what seemed like a dirt landing strip for a journey in close to see the falls. What an experience for this old aircraft.

History of that aircraft is here. Careful if you start looking around that Sunshine Sky's website you could loose a couple of hours

Wait until you see the BASLER BT-67 Conversion. They will be flying for a longer time, because they are replacing the old radial engines with Turboprops.

First commercial flight. Will never forget climbing up that aisle "ramp", due to tail dragging, and falling back into tilted seat.

I had the chance to actually fly this piece of history in July of 2018 to Oshkosh. The owner of this beautiful aircraft is an incredible person that just loves to share his passion for aviation with others. The plane was a pleasure to fly.
