Allegiant Airlines is making big bucks by purchasing these(MD-80's). Owner claimed he could make out well, though the MCD's are fuel guzzlers because he pays so little for them. I think of Allegiant as the "Robert Hall" there's a name from the past, of the Air line Industry very akin to Ryan Air. Neither have put leather straps from the ceiling for "standing only" over bookings!
