Douglas DC-3 (C-GAWI)
Beautiful old bird, definitely has seen some history.
Comments
that is a great photo looks like it has had engine transplant still a beautiful safe old aircraft well done
Gestern Abend einschwebend auf Bremen gesehen... :-)
I saw this over Calgary, Alberta last week (which is where the photo was clearly taken). I was confused because it had the outline of a DC-3 but was very quiet and did not sound like a DC-3 - from the turboprop refit.
It is a unique plane - actually called a Basler BT-67 now because of the refit (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basler_BT-67)
Is part of a research group (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Wegener_Institute_for_Polar_and_Marine_Research#Polar_5)
Used in Antarctic and Arctic flights but maintained in Calgary by Kenn Borek air (according to the Wiki articles). Must be transitioning between South Pole and North Pole positioning?

It's actually not a DC-3 anymore. It was converted to a Basler Turbo BT-67. This one belongs to the Alfred Wegener Institute
