Very nice photo Gary, a most excellent 5* shot. I wish we still got to see these here in Socal, jetBlue flew them out of Long Beach for a short time but has since switched exclusively to A320s.

I worked for the north side (executive)part of Prior about year and half, another year for airline fueling dept...
I cant tell from photo if this is early am or late night RON flights,
I worked 2nd shift....truck 33 was my buddy Matt
I always drove truck 37
jet blue e190s used to be to boston and the 320s were jfk....now its all 190s except Orlando is the 320

I was at KBUF for the dedication of this aircraft... first jetblue 190 in service and only one without a blue in its name

Dwight and Mark ... Howdy again, guys. TYVM for the comments / complis. :-) Back when I took it, I was all sorts of proud of it because it is a handheld, very slow-shutter, snap and it came out fine despite the shutter being open for so long. It is nothing I'd post now except that I thought Sam K would enjoy seeing it because he worked for Prior. How have you guys been?
Sam, this is early morning on December 24th. My flight was about to push and I clicked this from my window seat.
BTW, there are actually three JBU fleetbirds that don't have "Blue" in the name: this one seen in the pic; N316JB "Usto Schultz", and the newest one, N949JT "Ann Rhoades." "Luiz" and "Usto" have been flying for a long time; "Ann" is the newb. N586JB is named "I Love New York" but the word "love" is represented by a blue heart so it does have "blue" in its name. And there are a couple that have the word "mint" in their names but mints are usually blue so "Luiz," "Usto," and "Ann" are truly the only three that have no variation of the word "blue" in their names.

bringing back memories...
I was off on mornings, but sometimes I helped 1st shift with deicing...
at that time we had contracts with JetBlue, American Eagle, NWA, DHL/ABX, UPS, Fedex, and we were backups for Delta, SW, and AirTran...talk about a busy schedule especially when you have 42 departures between 540am-7am and 1 deice truck
if you had a handheld radio I was Iceman 5...

Grin) Nice and "crisp" temperatures at that time of morning.
There is only one deicing truck? In the winter? At KBUF? Either the WX has changed a whole bunch in Buffalo since I was a kid or a couple of them must have had dead batteries from the cold. (Big Grin) Heck, I've got pics showing two parked side-by-side near the terminal. (Chuckle) And those were taken in July. Buffalo leaves their deice trucks ready for use year-round, just in case. :-)
Hey, Sam, while I'm thinking of it ... You mentioned that you shoot your pics from MF. That is absolutely the best spot, but there are at least ten other super spotting locations at BUF.
Here is one >> In the mornings, when the inbounds are using "23," try the Lawrence Bell location. GREAT captures of the arrivals. Sun is just coming up behind you on the left and the captures are clean and crisp. Not sure what lens you have; you'll want to use a 250 or a 300. You can also click all the RONs departing in the morning as they turn on to runway 2-3 to line up but because the runway hill is slightly higher than you are you'll lose the bottom portions of the landing gear in your pics.
Directions: Drive down Aero toward the tunnel. If you are coming from the tower side, go thru the tunnel to the traffic circle and bang a right onto Youngs. If you are coming from Cayuga, don't go thru the tunnel .. When you get to the traffic circle, go around it 3/4ths of the way on to Youngs. Drive along Youngs, over the NYS Thruway, and take the first right on to Lawrence Bell. Park in one of the back lots on the right side behind the businesses on Lawrence Bell. Be prepared with ID in case someone comes along to check you out. I go there every time I'm in Buffalo; never once have I had any problem. The position is only good until midmorning; after that the sun is wrong. But remember how to get there, because that is also the area you go to if you want to snap from along the runway approach lights.

I know on the other side...by 5 there is a building with a lot on corner of 33 and genesee, right below and over 100 feet from the approach end
I got a decent digi camera...digital zoom equal to about 200mm
I like when they use 5 because they rotate right infront of you (between intersection and Charlie/tunnel) using 23 is good because they taxi right past you...

we have a lot of trucks (5?) but there either down for maintenance or we got one on north side for the private stuff
we were efficient....one truck could deice a A321 in the same amount as 3 IDS (yellow truck) took to do a little RJ
the trucks cost about 200k a piece so the less they drive and get beat up the better

Gary your right...we are ready all the time...
I remember once we had to deice a NWA DC-9-50 in early September...
NW policy was zero contamination and they picked up a little rime ice coming through clouds (-40 degree aluminum hitting a clouds is instant ice) then with refueling the cold tanks created frost...so we had to spray 10 gallons of type 1 on the wings...crazy huh?
