Boeing C-135FR Stratotanker (62-3573) - It's been just over a year since I last posted one of my pics taken at Loring AFB in the mid 80s so I figured I'd share another one.br /This pic is about 34-35 years old. I took it in either 1985 or 1986 (the date on the back, written in ink, is faded and the last numeral is either a "5" or a "6") while I was stationed at Loring.br /br /This KC-135 (62-3573) is still flying today as a KC-135R. It wears a MacDill tail flash.br /br /Additional note: Way off in the background, the tail of tanker 62-3502 is visible. That one is also still active today, also as a KC-135R, and - ironically - it is also "stationed" (along with 62-3573) at MacDill. Thirty-five years after this pic was taken, those two tankers are back together at the same base.br /br /This is the first photo of 62-3573 to be posted into FA's gallery.

This KC-135 (62-3573) is still flying today as a KC-135R. It wears a MacDill tail flash.

Additional note: Way off in the background, the tail of tanker 62-3502 is visible. This is the first photo of 62-3573 to be posted into FA's gallery.

Many years ago, I sent this pic to an individual who was creating a website specifically remembering good old Loring AFB. I know he posted it on his site. A few years later, he (with my permission) shared it for reposting to another site about Loring. I'm glad it is being displayed, but because those sites are not well known to most viewers, I've decided to post it here into FA's gallery to go along with the other four Loring clicks I've previously posted.

Now that's a great photo - a picture that tells a story, not just a photo of a plane. Tip of my hat to you sir.

Great photo. Reminds me of early mornings at RAF Mildenhall after I would see our Bravo Squadron 130's leave. The 135's were on that side of the flight line. Driving back to the Aerial Port I would pass a few RC and WC135's. By the time I'd get back, give the shift briefing to day shift and head to the dorm for a beer and a nice warm bed. Fun times.
