I was a media photographer for the NASA/UNR Nuance Lab UAV drone tests at RTS and this 1941 N3N took off while I was there, so I got some fabulous snaps of drones and getting a few clicks of this one was a wonderful bonus.

Great shot Gary! We have a few old biplanes like this at the closest airport to my house (KAJO), unfortunately I haven't been able to get any presentable shots of them yet (hopefully soon though).

Gary, thanks for being in the "right spot at the right time" to capture this N3N-3... and sharing it with us!!!

I found this mentioned on Wiki very interesting - "...the U.S. Navy bought the rights and the tooling for the Wright R-760 series engine and produced their own engines. These Navy built engines were installed on Navy built airframes".

TY for your comment, Mark. I am soon going off on a spotting trip via air to do some spotting at several airports back east and also revisit an especially impressive museum. But as soon as I get back home, I'd like to arrange a two-or-three-day R/T down into your turf. There are several airports by your area of CA I want to do some spotting at. I am not the bashful type so I can usually arrive at a new airport and within 30 minutes or so I've managed to find someone who works there who is willing to escort me around the grounds (OR who can link me up with someone ELSE who can escort me). Also, I want to do some spotting at Miramar. I know a person here who can help arrange a photo visit there. So, when I get this one trip finished, I'll keep you advised of my plans to head to So Cal and if you still haven't had a chance to get good shots of those bis I'll get us snuggle-up close to them. Cliff ... Hey, my friend, I've got a B747 freighterload of way, way, WAY great pics (military, commercial) that I'll never put up here on FA. If you are interested, I'll share privately to you via email. Every one is UHQ; UHQ is the only kind I would ever send. I've got plenty of fantabulous GA birds too .... and as you know, I NEVER EVER share GA in FA's gallery. Let me know if you're interested, k? ;-)

Gary, just read you're coming EAST! There's a steak dinner in it for you if you are coming North of the border. Let me know.

Thanks, Gary... I am sending an e-mail to you... and I definitely want to have a peek inside that "747 Freighter".
