Beautiful sight! I see this big bird from time to time as I live near Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City/Oklahoma City area......SHE IS A SIGHT!
James we get Tinker aircraft down here on a regular basis. There was an E-3 down for about an hour yesterday doing touch and goes then climbed out to the north and was gone for good.
Beautiful shot!
Smoky beast!!!
Absolutely beautiful machine. Almost (aborted on takeoff) got a "Buff" flight out of Offut AFB in the 80's. Unfortunately didn't get another chance.
I used to love watching them go out over Lake Huron then turn in and land at Wurtsmith AFB in Michigan years ago.
Karl, how many years ago? I might have been in one of those...I was there Nov 82-May 86 as a Standardization/Evaluation Bombardier (SAC actually called them Radar Navigators).
Neil, Were you ever at Wright Patt or Barksdale. Your name sounds familiar. I was at Wright Patt June 74-June75, then on to Barksdale June 75 until my DOS Dec 1978.
Remember seeing these planes on practice bombing runs following the Niobrara river in Northwest Nebraska in the 1970's
