Air Inuit was founded by the Inuit of Nunavik (Northern Québec) in 1978 with a single de Haviland Beaver.

This aircraft was first delivered to Air Gabon in 1978 and served with African carriers until it was acquired by Air Inuit in 2010 and modified for northern operations including flights from gravel runways. Note the addition of the “gravel kit” a ski-like deflector mounted to the nose wheel, and vortex dissipators extending in front of each engine.

On 3 Jul 23, Air Inuit announced the acquisition of three 737-800 combis to eventually replace the five -200s flying with the airline.
