was following this pitts as it landed, as I clicked the shutter a Mong racer came in and slammed into the pitts
both pilots are ok, the pitts needs a new upper and lower left wing, the Mong is going to be written off

Thanks dave. It coulda been worse. Hardly any separation between the 2 aircraft

Was the Pitts stationary when the Mong hit it?

the pitts was just about to turn off the runway, he landed short and stopped pretty quickly, the Mong piloted by Jeffrey Rose came in fast and long and with the limited forward visibility didn't see Eric in time
few feet over in either direction would have been a different outcome instead of the wingtips clipping.
the damage to the Mong was caused by sliding backwards and the tailwheel catching a crack in the runway, broke the back of the Mong.
the Pitts will be repaired with about 3 feet of upper wing, the Mong was W/O.

im good friends with the Mong pilot, hes already got it scrapped and working on a CAD design for a new racer, started that on the night of Black Sunday about 10 hours after the race
for now he will race a stock Pitts until the design is built and tested
