The de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito. ALL plywood with two Merlin 60 series Packard V-1650 engines including a more advanced two-stage supercharger for improved performance at high altitudes. It found its most notable application in the North American P-51 Mustang fighter.

Two Rolls-Royce Merlin 25 twelve-cylinder 60ų Vee liquid-cooled engines each providing 1,620 hp (1,208 kw) @ takeoff and 1,500 hp (1,118 kw) @ 9,500 ft. (2,895 m).

Amazing photo. Thanks for sharing.
My mother worked on Canadian spruce plywood compenents as part of the women's WWII war effort in the UK, so as a kid I heard a lot about the Mosquito, but despite this, it has always been one of my favourite aircraft.

Can anyone see the big grin on the pilot's face? It must be there somewhere.

Seeing planes with invasion stripes has always given me a bit of a chill. I makes me think again of the bravery and sacrifice of the men who took back Europe for freedom loving people.
