Yes the first time I had a ride in the -9's office, I asked where is the compass? Told it doesn't have one but the look on my face was clear I didn't believe the FO. I was shown the mirror that reveled the display hidden in the bulkhead behind the crew seats. Be a hard job swing those compasses.

On a trip from WSSS to EGLL, I was allowed to use the scanner, which allowed me on board comms and Aeros within 10 nm and both sides when over a repeater site. Enroute the general flavour was seeking better levels to get out of the forecasted winds at several levels. Some three other Aeros were either catching up or we slowed down, not sure but the Singa above drifted to the left and knowing it was there, looking out the window to a familiar sight on 2000' looking like 500' in the upper levels, the Signe I won't forget was each time the strobes flashed , the Singa's trail lit up like large balls of white cotton. An El Al DC 9 took off and headed north and climbed towards out ATS when eventually it came up on frequency and cleared to FL280 and slid in below us. The Singa above at FL 370, the Aero I was in was at FL350 and as each Aro traked towards RST, there were three Aeros one above the other. At RST the El Al went north and soon after I went to sleep. Had I not been able to list

The more complex an Aero is, the less time one has to look outside. The moving maps seems to mind set some pilots into doing other duty-work hoping the moving map will play magic. Well why not. A Hint to Avionic OEM"s. If airport 10-9 page software detects two Aeros being where one shouldn't be, then come out audible with the TRAFFIC as what is used TCAS wise, but RUNWAY INCURSION, instead. I offered a suggestion a couple of years ago to have some form of detection system on the ground that when and Aero on an active runway is moving for a take-off. Then detectors along the taxi-way runway entry points activate triggering an audio waring on ADC 1 and 2's frequencies of the incursion. If ADC is a male voice, then the waring needs to be a female voice and vis versa to brake the procedural flow of expected verbal instructions. There are other forms of electronic surface detecting methods that can be used like SMR. The trick is to incorporate in the software, a level of out of place m

Not quite the facts. A stall at 300' would not have been survivable. An early solo and while on climb out, a loss of power with a a straight ahead landing into the only real area west of BK, the trotting pace-way. One wing hit a light support pole and separated outboard of the fuel tank. The rest of the Aero sliding into a fences where the left main gear damaged an unoccupied parked car.

Sounds a bit like the ancient US Carrier that gave pilots a bonus if they landed with minimum fuel, it was in an effort to reduce fuel upload cost. At one time there rule about fuel management was, Ever hear of an Australian Airline Pilot running out of fuel? Back in the 1980's the biggest cost to a local operator, was fuel cost. That now seems to have worsen and many companies have a cut-off point where cost cutting comes into play. But was is better? Landing on the runway with a slosh of fuel in the tanks or short of the runway with no fuel in the tanks?

Yes I know of that and left the link out of the comment. When a shop owner opens a business selling items X and is successful with that business, then sells up leaving an empty shop which is bought by another business who want to sell item Y, they will soon go out of business. The energy of the original OEM products when changes leads to an eventual downfall of the business. Boeing own Jeppesen, Go-Pro and other business, and look what happened to the Max 8.

Collins along with ARNIC, control the Global HF LDOC HF Network, ARINC via San Francisco and New York through area transmitters. Like Boeing who bought out smaller companies to lower supply cost, the energy field of an Aircraft OEM was altered and events occurred. With on screen display of traffic movements being controlled by a RadCom OEM, and the trend of public utilizing Jet Charter Companies for global transport moving away from their airline supply. Privacy will be an issue with many people not wanting or desiring such freedom of information being issued. Will bring a trend where on screen tracking of ATS Flights, will vanish. In the future if one wants to look at aircraft movement, one will have to a part of that flight or pay an exceptional user fee.

The first I've heard about it and I live here. YSSY is very active with both regional and domestic movements daily. It being a Class C Control Zone means recreational licence holders are prohibited from entering the Zone. Victor 1 corridor along the east coast of the city, might be what the ABC are referring to. As for landing at YSSY, well in peak periods a $250 fee on take-off, landings applies.

Well single engine operations in twin, is just that. Company policy's, Point of No Return or Critical Point having been , or not been reached or passed. Determines the continued operation of a flight to a planed destination. Oftern a internation flight will divert to an airport in a country they the company has landing rights to, than fly to the nearest suitable airport. Very easy to direct assumptions on a small sample of information.
