If United is expanding along with Frontier and Spirit and they are all hiring pilots, they are going to have reach into the Regionals to fill those seats. A lot of experience retired with COVID one of the reasons they cannot operate fully now.

Push may soon come to shove with regards to today's tier supply of relatively experienced pilots.

If they can find the pilots that is.

Interesting? I wonder how many they laid off over the past eighteen months of Covid?

And they (as well as other airlines) will LOWER THEIR STANDARDS to achieve it!!

I remember so, so many years ago when I couldn't even get an interview with any Major Airline because my vision wasn't 20/20 uncorrected. Time changed all that.

OH HELL - I would volunteer to FLY for the Big Airlines if they would train me and get me a Commercial Pilots license for FREE (At No charge to me). I was discouraged ages ago because I wear glasses and uncorrected vision is far less than the ideal 20/20. And yet corrected I see 20/10 thru my prescription lenses. Come On - PICK ME, COACH!

We going to get lot time pilots, low standards equals problems.

Hire from Canada. Problem solved overnight. Or ground your planes and disrupt passengers. So much talent up here available to work and looking to ditch the joke of Canadian aviation

When I think Canada, good aviators comes to mind to me. All the bush pilots up there reaching remote areas... and that show up there in Yellowknife with Buffalo Airways haha
gsh330
Yea, the bush fkyong background is how most of us got started. But there are thousands, myself included with type ratings on the same airplanes American flies and all the relative experience. I’d like to see this job be without borders provided no job is taken from a local. I’m pretty sure there are not enough Americans willing to be a pilot to satisfy the hiring needs

what are they going to fly if there is a fuel shortage

The enthused, aviation-hungry "baby boomers" who grew up in a fantastic era of modern aeronautical achievements are soon to be gone.
