Delta's chief executive hints at a possible Boeing 737 MAX order

Soumis

ATLANTA — Delta's CEO Ed Bastian hinted at the possibility of ordering Boeing’s 737 MAX, which was recently approved to fly again by U.S. regulators, in an interview with the Financial Times on Sunday. "We're talking to Boeing about lots of different things, the Max included," Delta's chief executive told the Financial Times. Any Boeing 737 MAX order would be the first for Delta, which did not have the aircraft in its fleet when the plane was grounded in March 2019… (www.airlinerwatch.com) Plus d'info...

I read in Airways yesterday how Alaska Airlines bought 30 737MAX "WHITE TAILS" from Boeing

Delta knows a bargain when they see one. Boeing will have lots of these aircraft to move off their books and there will be substantial discounts available. Delta will have to move at the right time before others pick up the surplus and the bargains end.

Yes, 110% correct. I will just add that Delta operates a 737NG fleet, so already has a pool of 737 type-rated pilots. They would need differences training and simulator sessions to fly the MAX, but Delta could have the training costs offset by Boeing if negotiating a bargain-basement MAX purchase.

I can add nothing more to your comment because it is so 110% correct.

Fire sell prices always draws buyers, Boeing will get rid of these planes sooner or later but their margin will be most likely zero or even a loss on each airframe, as the airline industry recovers, it will be in single aisle aircraft not two aisle Boring can forget the 777X, the demand will evaporate as will the market for the GE 9X engine

Flying on the 737 MAX should be easier for me in the near future.

I am sure that Boeing will be able to sell those planes that were not delivered, even at bargain basement prices.

if delta thinks these max 737s are suitable for their operation, then i may change the tenor of my anti-boeing/faa speech, for delta is a premier operation, has been for years, except for cabin cleanliness.Delta has scads of 737-900's and some other 737s too. Guess they will be operating a hundred or more max's soon.

its exactly as I predicted. Airlines walked from pre built aircraft and production slots, others picking up cheap aircraft.

Can EEC dumping allegations be far behind?
