Good grief how long does it take to repair a fuel line over there. Shouldn't have been mare than half a day.

This Qantas Boeing 747-400ER VH-OEG has RB211-524G2-T engines and a maximum landing weight of 260000 kilo and an operating empty weight of 185000 kilo leaving a maximum of 10000 kilos of fuel left after the transfer. Does this mean the 747 is stuck at Auckland or can rules be bent in such a situation. Genuine question as I have no idea how the numbers can add up.

With the two additional body tanks, the Max landing weight is over 295,000kg. Are you certain this plane didn't have those tanks?

I have no idea, however the VH-OEG has 4 x GE CF6-80C2B5F engines instead of the RRs (I made an error) and according to wikipedia Qantas has only bought the single body tank configuration. The numbers would only change slightly. However if it isn't equipped with an additional body tank, max landing weight would be 296000 kilos. That would be the explanation.
