What a shocking surprise. I know! Let's keep throwing money at it. That will fix it.

Says they're going to wait until 2019 to decide. So wait as long as possible. By then no matter how bad it is they'll say but we spent so much money already, we gotta do it!

No, by then they will say it needs "only" 2 billion more dollars and it will be fine, can't stop now.

Or, "We need to acknowledge that the program has some shortcomings, and move onward." As they announce they are accepting bids on the next, next generation do-it-all-for-all-services aircraft, the F-47 & 3/4

Gen. Chuck Yeager says both the F-22 & F-35 are losers.

Any construction or manufacturing professional will tell you that tools are made and used for a specific purpose. Weapons systems are no different. Pentagon should stop with the "all-purpose" platforms because they're just not the best thing to use in every situation. Taylor the tool to the job to be done. Can't use a chainsaw where scissors are needed....

I'd bet Snoopy could beat it & shoot it down w/a Sopwith Camel. ;-)

By the time it falls long, it will be outdated 7 need billions to catch up.
Should've given it to Boeing at least they eventually fly. My entire generation
wont pay enough taxes to cover this.

I don't blame the manufacturer. Rather I blame the government morons, whoever they are, too stupid to comprehend the impossibility of demanding a does all airplane be developed. They should be called out and sent to prison for gross incompetence.

Having worked with Government contactors I found that most are too eager to accept changes to products that are in development because it keeps revenue flowing. It does not remove the blame from the Government, but both are eager to point the finger of blame at the other. Peataps the remedy is for the Government to hire their own aerospace engineers. This way the finger and the blame can only get pointed in one direction.

Morons? They are making fortunes at our expense. Are they at risk of losing their job? Of course not. They know exactly what they are doing. Who are the morons, again?

If we could follow that principle we could cut the costs of government dramatically. Just think VA, EPA, DOJ, IRS, TSA, etc.

What ever happened to the conceopt of : build me a fighter that does the job I want it to do, certify it, market it and sell it it? Even the car makers show a proof of concept and they don't go to the people to fund it........if you build it ( and it works) they will come!

No. They found out they could make a lot more money selling something that doesn't work, so they can keep "fixing" it. If they only got paid on delivery, it would be a completely different game.

Classified technology for the most part. Can't build something you are not cleared to look at the technical design for. Huge drawback of the classify everything so we can't talk about anything leadership style we have adopted.

Lockheed Martin will be holding their breath as the results come in in November. Of all the defense programs, the F-35 is liable to be the outlier with respect to cost vs combat readiness. Most other systems purchased are ready at the time of acquisition by DOD whereas this platform is neither developed nor ready. Trump has promised increased spending but I suspect he will appoint some hard asses that will look at the program closely and impose some goals to make L-M get it finished or find the funds going elsewhere.

And if Hillbillary is elected she will just cut the entire military budget and move everything to funding her ideal nanny state programs to support the new progressives socialist agenda...we don't need a military since everybody is our friend when we throw taxpayer money their direction. This working well with Iran...

Such ignorance, CONGRESS authorizes expenditures not the President. Go back to school, get an education your comments are absurd and ignorant! You wouldn't know what socialism is if it smacked you in the head, all you know is what you are told via Faux News!

Before agreeing with your statement I would have to look at a list of corporate donors to the Clinton Crime Family Foundation. If L-M is on the list they will have bought their protection.

Corporations give to both sides so as to hedge their bets

Didn't find L-M donating to Foundation but their senior lobbyist is giving money to Hillary directly as are the General Dynamics group.

May not matter since the socialists will gut what is left of the military no matter whom is donating. We will have UN troops occupying US soil in short order and the F-35 will be relegated to airshows and 'peacekeeping' missions to perform assassinations of their enemies.

What's LEFT of the military... the U.S. spends more on our military than the NEXT 14 countries combined... you a BADLY informed and typical misinformed Repugnant!
