You should have been at UIN to see the low-pass they did down Rwy 13-31 at the end of the day. It was magnificent and had the skydivers out on the roof's of their campers (parked nearby) taking pictures and video.

The museum is open again! Stop by next time you're in KC. They have done a nice job with the remodel. At the annual members meeting in January, they said the Connie should be flying again soon. They're preparing to have it taxi under it's own power, then go from there! I can't wait to see it in the sky above Kansas City again!

I live right down the street from that plane. I should probably pay it a visit.

Tom I have not quite that as the Navy retired the EC-121M Connies we had in my 2nd year of being in VQ-1 in 1974. I moved on to EA-3Bs. Its still holds the fondest place in my Heart of all the aircraft I had the pleasure of being an Air Crewman on.

Ricky... all of our Air Force connies were ex-navy WVs with radomes removed and sono buoy receiver systems installed.. they modified the buoys to work in the jungle picking up the noise and vibration from trucks going down the Ho Chi Minh trail in Laos... so my time was in navy connies, too!

The video mentions that this was Eisenhower's presidential aircraft. You can see it (inside and out) at the USAF museum in Dayton OH. http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/factsheets/factsheet.asp?id=568

When I went to Lackland AFB for training, I was a passenger in one of those Connies. hat was in the 1950s. I'd love this clip if they didn't have that dumb background music.

I actually made a couple of skydives out of this airplane including a sunset load. It was a very peaceful climb to altitude with the drone of those radial engines.
