Maybe I'm a little slow, but I thought it would have been ok to say what country this took place in. I finally caught on in the last sentence.
Yet many airlines hand out steel knives with their meals!
"A passenger... they" ? Not putting "he" or "she" is taking sexual neutrality to the ridiculous. And Birmingham police show the knife next to a centimetre rule. But the writers at Aviation Republic feel they have to translate this back to inches.
