First Aircraft For David Neeleman’s New US Airline Breeze Airways Arrives In The US

Soumis

Breeze Airways, the new start-up airline of aviation founder and tycoon David Neeleman, has had its first aircraft arrive in the US. Another of Neeleman’s airlines, Azul Brazilian Airways, confirmed that one of its Embraer E195-E1 had been flown to the states for a refit and a paint job. Azul will lease almost 30 Embraer jets to Breeze. Breeze is expected to begin flying early next year. (simpleflying.com) Plus d'info...

While the timing may not appear to us mere mortals to be bad, it's pretty hard to argue with David Neeleman's record for success in the industry. Perhaps he sees opportunities we don't.

Honestly the pandemic is a blessing for a new startup. When the gears were in motion at the start there was a pilot shortage in the making so was going to be tough to recruit pilots. Now fast forward to 2020 there are plenty of hungry pilots furloughed from main line carriers, furloughed cabin crew, and ground personnel. Now Breeze will have more applicants so they can pick the best.

This has the makings of a very smooth airline startup. The routes Breeze is talking about sounds like Southwest 20-30 years ago where a KDAL - KLAX flight had stops in KABQ and KPHX. It may take a bit longer to get to the destination but it kept the load factors high creating $$$.

i wish them well with the "startup"...all of the airlines are struggling now, whethr they have a small or a large route structures,or whether thy have older or newer aircraft..this seems like odd timing..some regionals have just gone out of business completely...

He will be ready with a fresh team, while the others will still be recovering from the pandemic. He does not have to pay the same overhead costs unlike existing carriers, because he has less staff and no planes to pay. It is like making a pit stop in F1 while the safety car is still on the track.
