You are totally correct! Most of those estements don't take into account new fossil fuel sites being found every day!
The expense of bio fuel in relation to fossil fuel if used would make costs go up it may be cleaner burning but to get the same out of it for power you will use more. To produce it from scratch farming to finish it takes as much fuel to do it as it produces so its not a win win deal its a win loose only.
Can you say, "follow the money".
Humans as farmers are a more finite source of food. We should not be burning the food to buzz around. Until everyone is fed on a reliable basis, motor fuels must remain indigestible.
