Boeing, Airbus Vie to Supply Replacements For El Al’s Boeing 767s
Another round of talks, and again – it’s not only money, but emotions that are involved. El Al is in negotiations with Boeing and Airbus to purchase aircraft that will mainly replace its aging Boeing 767s. (www.flightglobal.com) More...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Sad to say, if the $ are anywhere close, it will come down to delivery time, and in looking at past orders, Airbus is way ahead in that department.
Other factors will creep in related to the anti-Semitic shift in the French population and various European economic boycotts. Germany has had good state and industrial relations with Israel selling submarines. On the other hand, Israel's relations with the current Administration here are not exactly rosy.
That all said, my bet is a combination of 787 and 777 to replace both 747's and 767's at the same time with help from the US taxpayer in return for some nominal exchange.

Like I said below, if those 767's are that bad, delivery time will tell the tale. If they are getting a head start, Boeing may prevail.
