hey..you cant fool mother nature! birds have been around since the dawn of time, and the skies and the airspace are theirs...aviators and airports can only detract and avoid..

It's actually their airspace that we are encroaching on... so they are not the pests... we are!

Look up the definition of "pest" - it has nothing to do with who was there first.

It depends on which side of the fence one is sitting on doesn't it Andrew...regardless, mother nature over pesky humans who invade and own any space at a whim oblivious to other living creatures... the birds ultimately do less damage than humans.

So where, how, and why do you live Jen? Because rest assured you are also invading the space an insect or bird or any other animal or even plant for that matter could occupy (and in many cases the animals and plants they could consume). Do self-loathing people like you ever look in the mirror instead of lashing out at the human animal? No, of course you don't. That requires courage to acknowledge YOU are also part of your own self-defined problem. If you are so unhappy about it, I'd suggest moving to Mars with Musk although there is evidence there has been life there before and there still may be too. Oh the humanity!

Self loathing? I'm awesome!!
Settle petal 😁

Yes, people like you who believe that animals should take priority over humans are self-loathing. I don't care whether you want to admit it or not which apparently you do not as I suspected.

Actually, we are peaceful nature lovers, we are not above animals. As long as there are self important twats like you on the planet there isn't room for anything else. I bet you shoot animals for sport too. Why do people like you think that we are the most important species on the planet? Humans are causing more damage to the earth than any animal could. I love all living creatures... except wastes rs of precious oxygen like you. Selfish and self absorbed to the core with no clue about things that really matter in the world. Go and preach your hate elsewhere. Such an angry little person.

So you can't acknowledge that which you are: a hypocrite taking up space where animals could otherwise be. YOUR ORIGINAL POINT. It has nothing to do with loving animals or not. Glad to see your true colors shine getting triggered and you call me angry. Pot, meet kettle. Or do as I originally said and get the courage to look in the mirror.

Speaking of hate, listen to yourself!

She can't. I saw this meltdown coming a mile away. People like her are self-absorbed and it's always easy to call them out on it. That's exactly why I mentioned looking into a mirror. It's always equally as easy to expect them to get hostile when challenged.

One more thing you angry wretch: if you are not TOTALLY USING a carbon neutral life style, then sit down and SHUT UP.

The fact is that animals displace and sometimes have caused other animals to go extinct many time in the past. It’s called survival of the fittest. The human animal is at the top of the food chain not because of the sharpest claws or the fasted speed , but because of the gift of our superior brains. Man is the only animal that has set aside space for other species and has attempted to rectify the mistakes of the past. We believe the animals are entitled to a place on the planet but they are not entitled to All of it just because they were here first.

Thousands of starlings landed at KAVL after they heard, "cleared to land Rwy 35!"
So what's wrong with that?

Duplicate ICAO #s used.

Well, the birds were aviating in their own way.... Then again, it reminds one of the Hitchcock movie “The Birds”

A few 12-ga blasts would have remedied the problem.

Interestingly, starlings are one of the few birds commonly found in the United States that are fair game anytime, anywhere. They are not covered by the Migratory Bird Act, as they are non-native.

See we don't have that mind set in Australia...feeling the need to 'validate' guns.

You also don't have all the freedoms we have here in the USA.
JenOscroft
JenOscroft -2
We have more freedom here than in the USA. I've lived in 3 countries and the only country I didn't feel safe in was the USA... We have no fear of daily mass shootings here. You call that freedom in 'Murica? 😂😂😂
LynnGoss
Lynn Goss 5
Yes, I call it freedom. You may "feel" safer in Australia, but you don't have the freedom to protect yourself against assailants. The term "daily mass shootings" is nothing more than media frenzy. As for feelings of safety, I've lived here for a long time, and I feel safe. But a gun is like an insurance policy or a fire extinguisher - you have one, but you hope not to have to use it. And don't forget: when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
JenOscroft

I don't have to... NO ONE HAS GUNS!! We can go to shopping centres and schools without the fear of being shot. That's freedom! We don't live in fear here... that's freedom.

Shotguns and rifles are legal in Australia. Are they guns?

She's a few beers short of a twelve pack. Aussies have firearms, and just like in the US, the more rural you get outside of urban areas, the higher the ownership percentage. Our problem is not guns. It's culture. There are 300 million firearms in the US, most of which are in suburban and rural households, which as I state below have lower gun violence crime rates than large metropolitan areas. Those are just the pesky facts these anti-gun hysterics will never be willing to accept.

You seem to be drifting off topic. I will try to drift a bit farther. I have only lived in the USA and feel safe here. That said, there are places in the USA I will not go due to documented safety issues. Being safe is objective. Feeling safe is subjective. There are people who feel unsafe in California because of potential earthquakes. Others feel unsafe in tornado country during certain parts of the year.
Do you feel unsafe driving in Australia due to drunk drivers?

Note how she focused on mass shootings but ignores the daily killings in major cities that far outnumber mass shooting numbers many times over. Fun fact: gun violence in the US doesn't even break into the top 20 leading cause of deaths for US citizens (CDC stats). And when you take out suicides which account for over half of all deaths by firearm, not even in the top 50. Things like heart disease, cancer, accidents, and many other causes far exceed gun violence deaths. But that takes away from the media hysteria narrative. Nor does the media report daily gun violence stats like out of Chicago. So far in Chicago at the end of last Sunday, 404 had been shot and killed in 2019. Far more than all mass shootings combined nationwide over the past four years. Maybe she didn't feel safe because she lived in Chicago! Finally, the US ranks #20 globally in firearm deaths. My guess is she assumed we were #1 and has visited some of the other higher ranking nations in this list:

There it is ... knee-jerk anti-gun reaction. I live in Asheville and use AVL often enough, and don't want to contend with flocks of non-native birds. 12-ga to the rescue!
