(CNN) — The development of a V-shaped, fuel-efficient airplane design known as the Flying-V is getting a boost with the announcement that Dutch national carrier KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will help to fund it. Different blended wing body aircraft concepts have been around for quite some time, hope this project can provide more info addressing to aviation amateurs, and in particular, how this new design overcomes the shortcomings of previous endeavors. Well, at least, this project got a bit commercial funding into academic research, not a bad thing.
