With the MAX 8s grounded AIR CANADA wisely anticipated an increase in the volume of customers who will be flying this summer. They added two 330s and six 320s to make sure they have passenger coverage while the MAX 8 mess is corrected and guaranteed 100% safe. Boeing is too big to fail -an awfully important corporation for the US both in commercial aircraft terms as well as in military aircraft, missiles, etc. products.

The 330-200's are going to handle YUL to CDG. The 320s will be used in the domestic market. Just enough aircraft to handle passenger demand until the MAX is approved for North American and popular European locations. It is simply a matter of balance regarding customer needs for domestic flights in Canada and more aircraft available to service the Spanish market in Barcelona and Portugal.
