FAA Threatens Legal Action Against Santa Monica for Its Effort to Shut Down the City Airport

Soumis

The Federal Aviation Administration has threatened legal action against Santa Monica over its effort to reduce flight operations at the city’s airport, force out aeronautical tenants and close the historic facility within two years. In a strongly worded letter Monday, the FAA reminded Mayor Tony Vazquez of what it termed as the city’s obligations under federal agreements to keep the airport open at least until 2023 and treat aviation tenants and aircraft owners fairly. It baffles me why people will move by an airport, and then complain about all the airplanes flying overhead.

These crying neighbors have a large sense of entitlement, but no standing in law or equity. Like the self-anointed everywhere they seek to control and dictate what people do around them.

These are the the same flat nosed pigs that will be first in line when a natural disaster hits, and that airport will allow supplies to be airlifted to save their sorry lives.

Some right thinking member of the judiciary needs to wipe their faces and tell them to stop sniveling and wasting the Courts time.

as long as the airport receives federal funding a municipality can not shut it down without legal issues
if its privately owned and never received funding they can close it

Ah, yes, Sam... As Peter Hartmann said, Meigs Field was supposed to remain open, but look at what happened there. An FAA with no teeth to go in and make Chicago put the airport back let them turn it into a "park"...

The airport has been there since 1926. If those requesting the airport be closed ownd their homes prior to its opening they have a legit complaint. If not, shut the hell up and move if you do not like it. The mayor and council have used our money they must abide by the contract and keep it open until 2024! Another moron moron in politics.

The Meigs Field was a debacle and a terrible loss for all of us who fly.

My question is: where any of these fools around when Santa Monica airport was built?
What is with people who buy or build near an airport and then bitch about the noise?
Get with the program and realize that Santa Monica is bigger &(better) than all of you whiners combined.
