RICHMOND — Two people reported "no serious injuries" after their small plane crashed in Richmond on Monday, said Cache County Sheriff's Office.

According to Cache County Sheriff Lt. Mikelshan Bartschi, at about 6:15 p.m. Cache County Sheriff's Office was notified of a small plane crash at 11481 N. 2000 East in Richmond.

Bartschi said that the responding deputies were informed that the Kitfox plane had hit a power pole. The pilot and his passenger were able to exit the plane with no serious injuries, according to Bartschi.

The pilot told a deputy investigating the scene that he had attempted to land in a field and flew over it to ensure it was clear. Bartschi said that when the pilot attempted to turn around to land, the wing of the aircraft struck the power pole, which caused the plane to nosedive to the ground.

According to Bartschi, the Cache County Sheriff's Office is coordinating the investigation with the Federal Aviation Administration along with the National Transportation Safety Board.

Rocky Mountain Power was also notified of the damaged power pole, officials said.
