The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Airbus A320 had lost its twin engines before crashing on Friday afternoon while attempting for a second landing in Karachi.

The PIA flight #PK8303 from Lahore was operated by a 15 year old aircraft with registration AP-BLD, which was first delivered to China Eastern Airlines in 2004.

Flight #PK8303 took off from Lahore at 08:05. At 09:34 the aircraft made a landing attempt that was aborted after the engines scraped the runway, as the landing gear had failed to deploy due to unknown reason.

The aircraft engines scraped the runway thrice in bouncing action, which damaged the engines.

Pictures taken just before crash indicate the aircraft having deployed the Ram Air Turbine indicating a electrical power loss following the engine loss.

Both engines underbelly shows marks incurred during the first belly landing, which in turn caused the unusual twin engine failure.

As the first attempt failed, pilot called for a go-around. The ATC directed the pilot to take the aircraft 3000 ft, but he could manage to reach only 1800 ft as the engines spooled down due to damage.

Video shows the aircraft crashing into a residential area with nose pitched up.
