Great photo. Most of the people who follow the T-Birds are by now well aware of their “surprise grand entrance” from behind the stands and telling the folklore legend of the Thunderbird. I was at the Reno Air Races about 15 year ago (give or take) when they had just started using that entrance and most of the folks in the stands (including me) were not aware and were actually looking out in the distance for the approach from the front. So when they came roaring in from behind the stands in a very low pass, they were pouring on the coal and that formation flew over our heads with just a whisper, followed two seconds later by the roar of the engines. And it actually did scare the crap out of most us folks in the stands. VERY THRILLING!
