The "Spad" or "Sandy" was (is?) one beast of a single-engine bird. Nothing else could match it for SAR in Vietnam.
This thing could carry more ordnance under its winfs than a B-17's full bomb load.
The A-1 Skyraider and A-4 Skyhawk were both designed by Ed Heinemann at Douglas! 5 star shot! Thank You Ken! Cheers!
