Enjoy the photos of the "130s". Was aircrew on specially modified 130s in Nam.
Awesome photo with the prop swirls John........
Nice shot in moist weather; nice prop-tips vortices, good catch!
A C-130 flew not all that high over my head on my Trikke ride yesterday, obviously having just taken off from Joe Foss Field here in Sioux Falls. I waved at it...it didn't wave back...waaaa!
Alan Brown: I saw one of "your" modified C-130s take off during an air show in Grand Junction, CO, many years ago, and I've loved those buggers ever since. Talk about loud! And, the way it shot up, into the air when they fired those loud side rockets...super impressive! (PS: I had a cousin with the same name as yours...from Akron, Iowa.)
Linda Nitzschke: When I was growing up in WV the 167th Airlift Wing operated C-130's and they were always flying over super low. One time I was standing in the yard looking up and one of the guys was standing in the open side door of the aircraft looking right back at me, it was awesome. I ended up getting a short flight in one later as part of an AFJROTC "field trip" - they are LOUD inside!
