British Aerospace BAe-146-200 (N446MA)
It's a small graveyard but no matter how small it is, it's a graveyard .....
Two BAe-146s, N446MA ( ex-Air BC as C-FBAO; ex-Air Canada Jazz as C-FBAO) and N556MA sit among items of equipment and some pieces of junk. The cockpit segment and engine nacelles of a third BAe-146 that has been b/u are visible in the background and the same pieces of a fourth BAe-146 are also there but are not visible in this photo.
About 18-20 months ago, there was a decent possibility that N446MA was going to be made airworthy again. Work was progressing toward that goal. Then came the COVID pandemic. Now the project has folded, and both frames have been hauled to this isolated location at the south end of the airport and abandoned.
Comments
As we were photographing these, a comment was made that perhaps (just maybe) someone with lots of spare $$$ but with nothing else to spend it on might buy Tanker 46, dig thru the other stuff, salvage more parts, reconstruct the tanker, and put it up on sticks as a static at some airport. Yeah, I'm not holding my breath that it will ever actually happen but then again ..... who knows??? lol
