McDonnell Douglas DC-8-70 (N821BX)
KPHX - Burlington Air Express DC-8 rolling out on the south complex runway in July 1995 - i was down in Phoenix for the Airliners Intl Airline Collectible Show - awaiting friends from SJC to pick them up. The Arizona ANG base had 5 KC-135s this day and I can KMSITA for not getting the tail numbers. Temps were about 100 degrees this AM..I dunno how the people who work the ramps in 115+ weather -sun-scorching heat do it........tip o the cap to ya!
Comments
Into another of my interests...Burlington Air Express started as Burlington Northern Air Freight, a subsidiary of the Burlington Northern RR which in itself resulted from a merger between the CB&Q (Chicago, Burlington and Quincy RR, the 'Burlington') and Great Northern RR - all those years reading US Rail mags.
Burlington Air Express eventually became BAX Global and later disappeared into the mire of globalization and takeovers, sadly of course, with job losses.
Yes Tom, being out there in that heat and taking photos isn't great either, let alone having to work on a blistering ramp. Tip o' the cap to them indeed.
Great pic by the way - smile.
