As far as I know the specific sound of the Avanti is from the pushprops running at full revs all the time. Speed is changed by the position of the blades of the engines. I think it is very noisy. And I know it first hand because it passes over my house at 450 metres to land on runway 22 at Schiphol from time to time. Tonight in fact hence my post.

The unique sound derives from the laminar flow sheet of air from the wings entering the props. It acts like a blender chopping up that smooth layer of air.
