Thanks Greg!

After searching for a long time, I think I've found myself a new desktop background! Wonderful shot in the sunset!

A beautiful shot of what keeps MEM as the #2 freight airport in the world. It also demonstrates a possible 'end-of-day' for the crew. It starts around O-dark:thirty!

MEM doesn't have a "runway06". Judging from the angle of the Sun, I suspect it is landing on 27, just south of the huge FedEx hub.

Jim, I think you misread the info boxes below Mark's pic. It says the flight is arriving "from Memphis." Mark snapped this shot at Toronto as shown in the info box (CYYZ). I am guessing (by your knowledge of the MEM airport) that you are located close to Memphis. I envy you. I would truly like to be able to spend some hours at KMEM with all the FDX traffic coming and going. It would be a great day of photography. (Wave)

Wasn't this one of the airframes converted over to a MD-10?

Sorry, Mark. I must have thought I was replying to Uwe. In German, "bitte" literally means "please," but it is also used to say "you're welcome."

Super shot, Mark! I guess to be totally accurate, we should call this an MD-10 rather than a DC-10. I'm a retired FedEx pilot and am pretty sure I have this tail in my logbook :-). I can't remember the exact date, but we transitioned our DC-10 fleet to MD-10S quite awhile ago. No matter what you call it, it is a beautiful machine!

Thank you so much for the comment Doug (and Chuck!) I've tried to change the aircraft type but it won't let me. I've reached out to admin to see if they can change it...
It's ALWAYS a treat to see the Fedex tri-holers come in to Toronto, just got lucky with a beautiful Spring sunset this particular weekend!

Doug Brower. It must have been a priviledge to fly these aircraft and of course you will never get it out of your blood, no matter how retired you are!! Perhaps you could tell me what the small bump on the pilots side of the radome is? Maybe it's just a lighting artifact in the image but it seems more real than that, like an extra sensor of some sort?
Great shot! regards
