I think he could have moved----but it wouldn't have turned and he would have went off the taxiway. Looks like the nose skidded in the turn putting him too close to the edge. Real Texans have 4 wheel drive. Lol

Matt...you are so right..us Texans don't do ice. The only ice we move around is the ice in the beer cooler! I live in Dallas and have not been able to leave house for three days and my electricity off for two of those days..all this while my wings have been in a heated hanger..not fair!

Well, that should teach those Germans to take an A330 out on the ice. A 74 or 77 would have made the gate easy.

They get a lot more snow in Germany than at Dallas. Let's put thus one on the Texans. They do lots of things well. Snow isn't one of them.

Texans don't do ice removal. As in Okie - they sit and wait for it to melt.

Don't many folks do ICE removal of that type. SOP is to get the snow off it so it will melt. In this case, there is no snow. It is 3-4 inches of solid ice in places, but yeah, God put it there and He will take it away. LOL

I really don't think it would have mattered what it was. That was just exceptionally bad all around. To go from 70-80 degree weather the day before to an inch or 2 of solid ice overnite is probably unusual for anywhere.

Snow is fairly easy cleared and de icing pre takeoff ain't that big a deal. Ice is just bad contrary and that is what you were looking at, not snow. Freezing rain with packed sleet on top of it.

It was an Airbus A330. Here is another article. http://airnation.net/hangar/threads/lufthansa-a330-flight-gets-stuck-in-icy-ground-at-dfw-photo.8355/

It has been moved as of this morning about 0900 local time.
