DC-3 departing Catalina Airport in the Sky

Cool airport. Been there several times. We sail (motor-sail) up from San Diego and moor at Avalon. The airport is remote and certainly off the touristy beaten path. Very GA friendly was my perception and a tourist/pilot shop that was not too horrendously over priced. Saw the diesel 3 come and go, and it is the lifeblood of the gotta be there over night stuff. Business and the locals pay a real price when the occasional 200 & 1/2 days persist. If you go there other than by GA, take a shuttle to the airport and take in the sights, which will include buffalo, wild goats, the zipline herd, and if your timing is good, a DC3 that probably knows the way without a flight crew.
