Love the part about the flight attendants boiling water to use in case this twit approached the flight deck. Shame to have wasted it. (www.oregonlive.com) Plus d'info...

Foolish to have even left the gate!!!

Agreed that the plane should not have left the gate, however we don't know what happened in the chain of communication. Perhaps the cabin crew didn't advise the flight deck of the situation, or made it seem less serious than it actually was.

I agree also, but it seems not that long ago we were discussing SWA delaying a flight to remove a crying baby and it's family. And then, not this fool? It seams common sense once again has taken a hike.

Everybody has their own interpretations of what to do. It is like every FSDO interpreting the FARs, they all do it differently.

Kudos to the flight crew. They ought to fine his butt and order restitution to SWA for the cost of the diversion.

SWA deserves the cost, they should have nipped it in the bud. The guy gave warning signs, but I guess they wanted to be on time...

If they would just let captains execute unruly passengers they could stay on time ore often.

I think North Korean Airlines have that policy. I don't know if they publish their on-time numbers though;>]

Come on, everyone knows to smoke your purple hash AFTER you fly and not before. Duh.

Is the "gang sign for Jesus" the same crossed fingers used to scare vampires away?

First Class Ticket on SWA? That should have been the first give-away.
Sentence him to community service assisting at the gate for a while. Oh wait, he'd have to pass a drug test.

Boiling water? WTF was that FA thinking? Too much risk to other passengers trying something like that, and to what end? He's not getting through the door to the flight deck anyway if it's secured the way it should be.
