FlightAware February 2010 General Aviation Report
HOUSTON - According to FlightAware's proprietary flight tracking database, general aviation (GA) flight activity has decreased by 1.8% in February 2010 compared to January 2010, and has decreased by 3.0% in February 2010 compared to February 2009. The biggest change in activity was led by private operators with a 2.4% decrease in activity during February 2010 compared to January 2010.
The airport with the largest significant gain in GA traffic for the month of February 2010 was Hollywood Int'l in Fort Lauderdale, FL with a gain of 14.6%, contrasted by the airport with the biggest significant drop in traffic, which was San Antonio Intl in San Antonio, TX with a loss of 11.7%. Year over year, the airport with the largest significant gain in GA traffic for February 2010 was Fort Lauderdale Executive in Fort Lauderdale, FL with an increase of 23.2%, but the biggest drop in GA traffic was found at Wichita Mid-Continent in Wichita, KS with a decrease of 15.8%.
General aviation single engine and multi-engine piston activity decreased by 4.3% in February 2010 compared to January 2010, turboprop activity decreased by 1.2% in February compared to January, and jet activity has not changed in February compared to January. The aircraft type with the largest significant gain in GA traffic for the month of February was the Learjet 45 with a gain of 13.8%, contrasted by the aircraft type with the biggest significant drop in traffic, which was the Socata TBM-700 with a loss of 16.1%. Year over year, the aircraft type with the largest significant gain in traffic for February was the Learjet 40 with an increase of 33.3%, but the biggest drop in traffic was found with the Cessna 152 with a decrease of 35.1%.
